Ruth Emers is an artist living in Pawtucket, RI. She was born and grew up in Brooklyn, New York in Seagate by Coney Island during the Depression and subsequently World War II. Her mother and father were both artists. She recieved a teaching degree, married and moved to Providence, RI where she taught art and creative dramatics in the elementary schools. When her three children were all in school she studied sculpture at Brown University, recieving her masters degree and subsequent awards.
